The Story Source
Many years ago, Andrew was an economist working for a small firm in Silicon Valley. Unlike most economists, he spent the majority of his time combing the internet for great stories: news reports, magazine articles, and radio interviews while secretly applying for news jobs. His bosses eventually found out and relieved him of his position, but they gave him a bit of money to cushion the blow. He took the money, enrolled in a series of writing, acting and improv classes, then took the last bit of money and moved to New York City.
In New York, Andrew studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), acting at the Atlantic Theater, and playwriting at HB Studio. He began telling stories and performing comedy in the basements and backrooms of bars.
Not long after this, Andrew wrote an article about an education space that had just opened up in Brooklyn where people with specialized skills could teach their passion. The article got a ton of press coverage, which gave him an idea: create a class on storytelling!
He spent months intensively researching and planning before launching the course. Then the unexpected happened: The first class sold out in a week. The next one sold out in three days.
He started customizing the workshops for entrepreneurs and business people, which led to a radio spot on Marketplace and a write up in the New York Times.
The Story Source was born.
Ten years on, The Story Source continues to help people all over the world to craft and share their stories. Andrew has worked with startups, nonprofits and Fortune 500 companies to help them craft investor pitches, TED Talks, keynote speeches, marketing campaigns, user stories, resumes, cover letters, and more. He’s coached hundreds of people to get promotions, seed round funding, and revamp their professional stories (including six clients who've received offers in 2022 alone).
He’s excited to share our story and even more excited to help you shape and share yours.
